Bill of materials.
What's in the box.
Premium AV streaming boxes are typically 60–80% margin. We're publishing our exact BOM cost so you can see what you're paying for at $179 MSRP — and what you're saving versus a $129 Apple TV with cloud-only AI or a $279 Zidoo Z9X with no AI at all.

§ 01Bill of materials
All component costs are sourced from October 2025 public quotes (Mouser, Digi-Key, LCSC, Alibaba 1688). Production volumes assume 5,000-unit MOQ; per-unit costs at 50,000-unit scale drop ~18% across the BOM.

§ 02Landed cost & gross margin
BOM is component-only. Landed cost adds assembly, certification, packaging, and freight. Below is the bridge from BOM to early-bird $149 price.

Early-bird at $149
24.5% gross
$36.50 contribution per unit. Covers OTA development + transparency-report ops.
MSRP at $179
37.2% gross
$66.50 contribution. Below industry typical 60–80% because we're funding open-source engine, not branding.
§ 03Engineering target methodology
Numbers stated on the website are engineering targets measured on prototype boards. Final values measured on shipping units land here, in the AVSForum Beta long-form reviews, and in the public bug-tracker.

§ 04Sourcing & supply chain
Component sourcing
All silicon (RK3588, RTL8852BE, RTL8211F, GL3523, RK806) sourced through Rockchip and Realtek authorized distributors with full traceability. Memory and storage from Samsung and Kioxia direct. No remarked or refurbished parts.
Assembly
SMT and final assembly at a tier-2 EMS partner in Bao'an district, Shenzhen. ISO 9001 + IATF 16949 certified. Same partner ships for two well-known AV streamer brands; we publish the partner name at v1 launch.
Certification
FCC Class B (US), CE EN 55032 (EU), UL 62368-1 (safety), Dolby Vision Profile 5/7/8 license + cert (in progress, completing before launch). Certification fees are amortized at $5.20 per unit assuming 5k-unit run.
§ 05Repair & longevity
Field-replaceable parts
- Active fan (Sunon MagLev MF40101V1) — sold at cost via support, $4.50 + ship
- Power adapter (USB-C PD 30W) — common spec, any USB-IF certified replacement works
- Remote (BLE) — paired via QR code; replacement remotes available at cost
Schematics & service manual
A redacted schematic set (omits NPU IP-bound firmware traces) is published 12 months after launch under a CC-BY-NC license. Independent repair shops can request the full unredacted set under NDA.
§ 06Notes
This BOM is provisional for v0 prototype and may shift on the way to v1 production. We'll re-publish the as-shipped BOM at v1 launch, with measured values replacing engineering targets. If any line item drops in cost (volume discounts at 50k MOQ are typically 12–20% across silicon), we keep the saving as margin to fund the open-source engine. We don't promise to pass it through to MSRP.
Comparable competitors haven't published their BOM. We're publishing ours because the AV community deserves to see how the math actually works on a $179 box.
